One of my favourite places to celebrate my birthday is at Walt Disney World, and I've been lucky enough to do so on several occasions. If you or a member of your family will be celebrating a birthday during your Disney vacation you'll want to read on for some great tips and tricks to help you celebrate it in style. Disney style.
1. Birthdays on a budget
The first thing every birthday boy or girl (including grown ups) should do is head straight to Guest Services at your themepark of choice. There you can ask for a birthday button which will help to make sure that everyone, Cast Members and guests included, know that it's your special day. You'll get lots of birthday well wishes and even a few surprises.
For a memorable souvenir of your trip carry a birthday card and ask everyone you meet to sign it for you. Of course the characters and Cast Members will oblige, but other guests will get a kick out of being asked to take part in your birthday too.
The Main Street Bakery offers a delicious range of cakes and pastries for you to mark the occasion, but if you'd prefer a proper birthday cake you can order one from the Boardwalk Bakery over at the Boardwalk Resort.
2. BIrthday extravaganzas
If you're celebrating a milestone birthday then you might want to push the boat out a little and go for something a little more extravagant. Birthday cruises take place each evening on the waters outside the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Prices start at $200 depending on the size of boat and all embark in time to position you in the perfect spot to experience either either the Wishes or Illuminations: Reflections of Earth firework spectaculars.
3. Birthday dinners
What better way to celebrate your birthday than having dinner with Mickey Mouse, or even Cinderella. Character meals are offered at various restaurants across the Walt Disney World Resort and reservations can be made 180 days in advance. Be sure to let the Head Server know that there is a birthday being celebrated and you might receive an extra special treat.
Grown ups celebrating their birthdays might prefer a night away from the kids and instead be treated to the ultimate in private dining experiences at Victoria and Albert's. Located at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa this world class restaurant features butler service and personalised menus. Guests must dress for the occasion too in dinner suits and dresses.
However you choose to celebrate there really is no place better to enjoy your birthday than at Walt Disney World.
